The Harbeth M30.2 XD2 is a refined bookshelf speaker from the "Extended Definition 2" (XD2) series by Harbeth, a British brand globally celebrated for its natural and transparent sound quality. This speaker is an evolution of the M30.2 XD and builds on the legacy of the BBC LS5/9, incorporating modern improvements that make it suitable for both studio and home use.
The M30.2 XD2 features Harbeth’s advanced 200 mm RADIAL4™ bass/midrange driver, a new generation of their patented cone technology, delivering exceptional clarity, detail, and dynamics. This is paired with a 25 mm ferro-cooled tweeter, resulting in a warm, detailed sound with a particularly realistic midrange—ideal for vocals and acoustic instruments. The frequency response ranges from 50 Hz to 20 kHz (±3 dB), with a nominal impedance of 6 ohms and a sensitivity of 85 dB, allowing it to work well with amplifiers starting at 25W.
A key upgrade in the XD2 series is the redesigned crossover, which ensures seamless driver integration and a wider, more three-dimensional soundstage. The cabinet, measuring approximately 46 x 27.7 x 27.5 cm, is handcrafted and finished with high-quality veneer options such as cherry, walnut, tamo ash, or satin black. These veneers are carefully selected for both aesthetics and acoustic performance, making the speaker not only sound exquisite but also look elegant.
The M30.2 XD2 is designed to blend seamlessly into various spaces—both acoustically and visually—and performs best on stands 40-60 cm high, with the tweeter at ear level and positioned some distance from walls. It excels in genres like jazz, classical, acoustic, and vocal music, where Harbeth’s natural tonality and precision shine. While not designed for overwhelming bass, it offers controlled and musical low-frequency reproduction that is perfectly balanced with the rest of the spectrum.
